Westway Park Named As Finalist for ULI Houston “Development of Distinction" Awards

Wolff Companies’ Westway Park, the 150-acre mixed-use complex located at the intersection of Sam Houston Tollway and Clay Road, has been named a finalist for the ULI Houston “Development of Distinction" Awards. Westway Park was the only finalist located outside the boundaries of Loop 610. Six projects were selected from more than 20 initial submissions. Published standards for the award include, among other criteria, their financial impact on and contribution to the surrounding community, high standards of excellence in design and construction, innovation and environmental sustainability.

Satterfield

Satterfield and Pontikes' 65,000-square foot, three-story, "green" headquarters building in Westway Park won Houston Business Journal's 2007 Green Project Award.

The distinguished judges, who visited each finalist property, included Rachelle Levitt, Executive Vice President of ULI’s Global Information Group in Washington, D.C., Jeff Gunning, Vice President of architectural firm RTKL of Dallas, TX and Vern Swaback, Managing Partner of Swaback Partners in Scottsdale, AZ, also an architectural firm.

Featuring 19 buildings, seven of which are LEED-certified and/or registered, totaling over 2.2 million square feet in space, Westway Park serves as home to more than 7,200 employees from leading national and international companies including NATCO Group, Travelers Insurance, BJ Services, Cameron, Stewart Title and Invensys Process Systems. Additionally, Westway Park encompasses hotels, restaurants and residential including a 336-unit Class A apartment complex. Nestled in the complex is Carolyn Wolff Park, a three-acre wooded public park.

Following the judges’ guided tour of Westway Park, their comments included, "Westway Park appears to have become a magnet for LEED buildings". They were also impressed with the "beautifully-wooded" Carolyn Wolff Park.
