The North Belt/Intercontinental Business Corridor continues to be a very active part of the metropolitan region. Over $2.8 billion of new construction is underway at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, including the new state-of-art Terminal E. Many new companies, such as Devon Energy Products Co., are locating distribution facilities in the area. More than 65,000 people are employed in the North Belt/IAH corridor, earning almost $3 billion in annual payroll. Over 50 multinational corporations have corporate offices there and about 20 of those locations are U.S. or world headquarters.

In

In other Interwood news…Averitt Express is the most recent addition to Interwood's A-list roster of distribution facilities, including Federal Express, the U.S. Postal Service, US FoodServices and Prime Source, all of which are major regional facilities. ExxonMobil, First Health, and Administaff are among the many other owners and tenants located in the heavily wooded Interwood environment.

A global freight transporter, Averitt is expected to start construction on its state-of-the-art service center on 30 acres prior to year-end.

To date,
Interwood has landed more than $125 million in investment and over 1.7 million square feet of office and distribution center development. Interwood is just minutes from some of Houston's newest master planned communities such as Fall Creek, Park Lakes, Summerwood and Eagle Springs. These residential projects offer a variety of housing, priced from the $200,000 - $300,000 to well over $1 million.
